Your photos are just beautiful. I never knew there were such wide open places in England.

Thanks Janet. The east is the flat bit of England. Though we live 50 miles inland we are virtually at sea level (which makes global warming a slight concern).

Thanks for some super shots. Yesterday I drove through New Mexico and watched a light show at sundown. Tried to get it on my camera. No go, but it was a show stopper. Not enough pixels. How was your trip? I'm not home yet, but shall be there in another 18 hours and shall look at the rest.

This is my first visit to your blog (thanks to your post on Janet's blog). I've very much enjoyed looking at the Fen skies, one of the few times I've taken time to go through someone's archives... what a grand idea. You've had an interesting relationship with that electric pole and wires, haven't you? I bet you cursed it at first, but eventually came to see it as an old reliable friend.

How on earth you have time to keep up with two blogs is beyond me. My hat is off to you!

as it happens....we see comments on one blog and go to that person to see their world. which is precisely what I did today. Your photos are amazing, is that a castle you see in the distance? My one and only time (thus far) in England we went to Cambridge - road the punting boats. funny the things that strike you, in some of the little bit of countryside we saw we were fascinated by round bales of hay. The rest of our time was spent in London. I will be back to see yet more of your photos. Cheers,Lisa

Biene-I hope some of the pictures came out. I'll check your blog.

Robin.- thanks for your comment. You are right about the poles.
I had a look at your beady blog. I was very interested in the colour analysis of stained glass etc. Can you get a computer to brak down the colours in their proportions automatically?

Lisa- We only live about 16 miles away from Cambridge, very near to Ely. I think that the'castle' is the outline of some trees which are planted around some houses across the fen. In the far distance, however (not visible on most of these photos) is Ely Cathedral.
The round bales of hay look like some kind of ancient sculptures in the evening sun. some of the neighbouring farms go in for them.
